How to Calculate the Volume of Excavated Soil?

excavation cost calculator

Excavation is the digging process. Excavation will be understood as the process of digging up and removing volumes of earth or other materials for the formation of spaces beneath earth.

One can easily calculate the volume of excavated soil by using the standard formula:

Total Volume of Excavated Soil = L * W * H

Where, L, W and H are length, width and height of excavated area. Multiplying these will give you the volume of soil excavated.

How to Estimate the Excavation Cost?

The cost of excavation is generally estimated by multiplying the total excavation volume to the excavation price per unit.

For ex : Let us assume that you want to excavate a pit of size : 2 x 2 x 2 meter. The market price for excavation is 10$/cu.m.

In this case the total volume of excavation is 8 cu.m. The cost of the excavation will be 8*10= 80$

If you don’t want to do all of the math, use the excavation cost calculator mentioned above to accurately estimate the volume and cost of your excavation work.
